Playtime; Dead dead

Styropor, screen, video, 2:02min., loop, color. 2019.

96 is the year I was born. 96 days is my World of Warcraft playtime. If we take away the time I slept this adds up to half a year I spent in Azeroth.

I created this Videosculpture for the occasion of my birthday. It deals with the question of experience within the virtual. Animals taken out of World of Warcraft seem to be trapped in a loop that makes them spawn and die right away. The viewer sees these animals from above. They exist within and underneath the surface of the screen – somehow only for the viewer – as they anticipate their perspective from above.
